CIV’s research is organized into strands, each addressing a particular aspect of the venture ecosystem. Current research strands include:

Each issue of Coller Venture Review is devoted to one strand. The coming issue will focus on “University Venture,” where we look at  the future of the relationship of Universities to Venture. This is based on the notion that the global venture ecosystem in the 21st century is changing rapidly, and the role of academia in it is of necessity going to change as well.

The traditional roles of universities – Creation of knowledge through research, Transfer of knowledge through teaching,  and Using knowledge through tech transfer – will remain in the coming decades, but their relative extent and nature are certain to change. The nature of all these changes is still not fully understood: while the scope of academic knowledge is growing exponentially, and universities must find a way to cover its entire breadth to some extent, they are slow to identify the best manner they can adapt and integrate into the overall venture ecosystem – which is itself is a moving target.
