(1) Bridging the Valley of Death in Pharmaceutical Ventures  in this article, Ram Waisbourd, Teva’s VP R&D, focuses on “The Valley of Death” — the gap between academia and industry where many promising ideas go astray. Potential solutions are shown, implementable by the industry, governments and private foundations.

(2) Reinventing Food — these days, a group of companies redesigns the way we think about food through revolutionary innovative technology. By applying knowledge from biotechnology, medical science, data analysis and food science, they are producing artificial meat, as well as valid replacements for other traditional foods.

(3) The Material of the Future  Graphene nanotechnology requires integration of scientific knowledge from multiple sources. This article examines the corporate strategies of 14 leading firms engaged in graphene R&D, and shows that companies that are able to successfully integrate knowledge from diverse scientific domains will have an advantage in creating novel Graphene products.
