DEALSTREETASIA released an exclusive report that the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology is exploring the possibility of establishing a national venture capital (VC) fund.
The establishment of a national fund will compensate for the lack of local VC funds and support early stage tech startups by mobilising resources, and helping to invest in and innovate new ideas.
The Ministry has been studying various overseas more mature ecosystems, such as China, Israel and the US, that have been successful at fostering the growth of local startups and building strong ecosystems.
The ministry will continue to seek expertise from foreign experts and also look at partnerships with the private sector, with the objective of launching the fund by year-end.
