Preqin launched their first Sovereign Wealth Fund Review in 2008, and it continues to attract attention due to sovereign wealth funds’ large assets and growing influence over the global financial community. Geographically speaking, Asia and MENA are the most prominent regions in terms of numbers of sovereign wealth funds. Also, in the report, Preqin shows us that fifty-one percent of sovereign wealth funds are known to invest in private equity. Other investments are made to various fields, namely real estate, infrastructure, and hedge funds.
